Local facilities

There are plenty of shops in Hoylake town, where newagents, convenience stores, supermarkets, cafes, pubs, takeaways, and restaurants are all available within walking distance of the club. Additional facilities are available via a short drive to Moreton and West Kirby. A Morrisons supermarket is also available in West Kirby, by the sailing club (and marine lake).

The following section lists various types of accommodation, but the club cannot confirm if all of them are still operating. Please contact the owners for details.

Local places of interest

WirralCam provides images from the two ends of sailing site used by the WSYC. One is mounted on the Leasowe Lighthousee, the other is installed on Hilbre Island. A further camera has recently been installed on the Hoylake Lifeboat Station, covering the centre of the sailing site. Information for both of these locations is available onthe following two websites.

Leasowe Lighthouse, visible from the sandbank at Hoylake, is the oldest brick-built lighthouse in Britain.

Hilbre Island is located in the mouth of the Dee Estuary, on the north west tip of the Wirral (Hilbre Point). It is a place of natural and scientific interest and many people walk there at low tide.

The Royal Liverpool Golf Club on the outskirts of Hoylake. It has staged many important national and international events, but prides itself in playing host to all who play its links course.

Hoylake Lifeboat Station, located on the Northern Parade, this is one of the oldest stations on the coast of Britain.

Wirral Life is a website which has details about many other places of interest in the Wirral area.
