Club rules

The aim of the club is to allow people to enjoy the sport, but a few simple rules apply, mainly for the safety of all club facility and sailing site users. You must:

  • be a member of WSYC to sail on the bank, or a visitor from another club by prior arrangement.
  • be insured.
  • wear a crash helmet when sailing.
  • display a WSYC number (visitors must display their own club number).
  • keep 300 metres off the coast except for access to the sandbank and you must keep within the permitted area.
  • stay 100 metres away from walkers and 300 metres from horses.
  • know the sailing safety rules.
  • report accidents to a Club Officer and enter all details into the Accident Book.
  • NO ABUSE OF ALCOHOL OR OTHER DRUGS WILL BE TOLERATED WHEN SAILING. ANY EVIDENCE THAT YOUR COMPETENCE IS IMPAIRED AS A RESULT OF DRUGS (including those prescribed by a doctor) WILL RESULT IN TERMINATION OF YOUR MEMBERSHIP.
